Ground heat exchange potential of Green Infrastructure

چکیده
Both Green Infrastructure and Ground Source Heat Exchangers provide opportunities to significantly improve the resilience sustainability of our built environment. This work explores thermo-hydrological response a vegetated Sustainable Drainage System under physically simulated heat injection conditions using soil column 1800 mm diameter 950 height in heavily-instrumented lysimeter. A range field testing scenarios (thermal load cycling) were applied natural, external ambient conditions. Soil temperature during was also numerically by solving transient conduction equation with finite difference modelling scheme. The developed model validated measurements from lysimeter setup which then enabled numerical experiments into effects varying hydrological regimes be performed. Results showed that propagates change only at deeper layers, while shallow layers are still governed atmospheric

Making green infrastructure healthier infrastructure
Increasing urban green and blue structure is often pointed out to be critical for sustainable development and climate change adaptation, which has led to the rapid expansion of greening activities in cities throughout the world. This process is likely to have a direct impact on the citizens' quality of life and public health. However, alongside numerous benefits, green and blue infrastructure a...
متن کاملGreen Infrastructure
The concept of “Green Infrastructure” (GI) is gaining political momentum and has been rapidly introduced in both planning theory and policy, especially in US and Europe (see Lennon, 2014). Yet, it does not have a single widely recognised or accepted definition (Wright, 2011). The term has been adopted by various disciplines (e.g., land conservation, urban design and landscape architecture), som...
متن کاملFinancing Green Urban Infrastructure
This paper presents an overview of practices and challenges related to financing green sustainable cities. Cities are essential actors in stimulating green infrastructure; and urban finance is one of the promising ways in which this can be achieved. Cities are key investors in infrastructure with green potential, such as buildings, transport, water and waste. Their main revenue sources, such as...
